Serro was one of the first counties of the Province of Minas and still holds the characteristics of eighteenth-century mining towns. Serro is surrounded by mountains and there are many good options to walk, relax and contemplate nature.
The cheese that is produced there became intangible heritage of Minas Gerais and is the great star of a festival that takes place in August at the Exhibition Centre.
In July, the Feast of the Rosary takes place, which is a mix of religion and folklore. Beside the novenas, masses and processions, the city is taken by a set of dances with colorful costumes, choreography and music.
