The city’s first chapel was built in the nineteenth century, in honor of San Gennaro, around which grew the town of San Gennaro from Uba. Later the name was reduced only to Uba. His name means “one-piece canoes carved from tree trunk” and comes from the Tupi-Guarani.
Ari Barroso’s homeland, is known as Uba “city love”, and has among its attractions, the Round Stone, Railway Station, the Municipal Palace, and the Turret Cesario Alvim.
