Minas Gerais is working to diversify, more and more, the scope of touristic products and services within Brazil and abroad.  Since 2008, tailor-made tours to several Minas Gerais destinations have been offered for the LGBT population, which includes lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transvestites, transsexuals.

According to data from the last census, Minas Gerais is the state with the third highest number of homosexual couples (4,098), in addition to boasting the highest number of LGBT pride parades in Brazil: There are more than 32 registered events in all regions of the state.

Minas Gerais has garnered a third place ranking for events geared toward this audience.  According to information provided by the Brazilian Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transvestite & Transsexual Association, Minas Gerais promoted 18 events dealing with gender in 2011. The state only trailed São Paulo, with 30, and Rio which had 20.
