Minas Gerais is a state with a privileged location.  Set in the middle of Brazil, the state borders Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, the Federal District (Brasilia), Goiás, Espírito Santo and Bahia. Located in the Southeast region, which is the biggest and most important economic hub in Brazil, the state has connections of just an hour flight time to São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasília.

Belo Horizonte, the state capital and the third biggest city in Brazil, has stood out on the business tourism scene due to its structural potential for such activities.  Belo Horizonte currently ranks 7^th on the ICCA (International Congress and Congress Association) list, an entity that measures the participation of different travel destinations in the hosting of international events.

The state has the third largest economy in the country, and apart from Belo Horizonte, has another 5 centers for business tourism.  These include Araxá, Juiz de Fora, ouro Preto, Uberaba and Uberlândia.
