A city with a variety of waterfalls and other natural attractions, Mutum is also known for being the stage of romantic scenes in the novel Campo Geral, written by Brazilian author João Guimarães Rosa. The municipality’s attractions include the indigenous archaeological park, which was discovered by the dos Rodrigues da Fonseca family. The city also plays host to the July Festival and an Agricultural Exhibition. Travel Tips: The standing stone of Pedra Invejada reaches 1,575 metres tall and provides access to trails via São Roque, allowing visitors to gaze at the Atlantic Forest from above. Pedra Ondulada and Pedra Pontiaguda both offer beautiful views and great short hikes. Pedra Santa ou Pedra Pirraça, one of the two highest points in the municipality, can be seen from the BR 262 road and is great for mountaineering, trekking, trail walking and observation.
