Itambé do Mato Dentro is a small, rural city with well-preserved forests, waterfalls, canyons and rapids, making it a great venue for partaking in extreme sports. Among the many natural attractions on offer, the most well-known are the Waterfalls of Crioulas (which hide a cave behind the falls), Funil, Lúcio, Vitória and the Entancado Complex. A special mention also goes to the waterfalls of Maçã and Entancado and the Curva do Rio Cantagalo, which boasts a river beach that is perfect for canoeing and swimming. The city offers cultural attractions such as the Matriz Nossa Senhora das Oliveiras Church and the Chapels of Santana and Nossa Senhora Aparecida, as well as others located in more rural communities.
